The short version. You can play without telling us anything. If you save your record, we keep your email so you can sign in on another phone. We never sell or share it, we don't track you around the web, and you can delete it any time.
If you just play
Your browser makes up a random id the first time you visit. With it we keep, on our server:
- your cut each day (the line you drew and how even it was), to rank you against everyone and to show your record in Previous days;
- the initials you choose (up to three letters), if you share with friends or join a competition, so they can see whose cut is whose;
- which friends' tables and competitions you're in.
Your streak and results are also kept in your browser's own storage. No cookies and no ads.
To count visits we use Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, doesn't identify you and doesn't follow you to other sites: it tells us how many people visit, roughly where from (country), on what kind of device, and which site or app sent them. We also count, from the game's own records, how many people cut each day and how close they got, as totals.
If you save your record (an account)
We keep your email address, when you signed up and when you last signed in. That's all an account is: an email pointing at your record, so a new phone or a cleared browser can get it back. It is also how a competition you start stays yours.
There's no password. To sign in we email you a 6-digit code, which works once and only for 15 minutes. We keep a scrambled copy of the code until it expires, and the address it went to for the rest of that day, to limit how many we send.
How long we keep it
Your cuts, initials, tables and competitions are kept for as long as the game runs, so your record and other players' tables keep adding up. Your email is kept until you delete your account.
Emails we send
- Sign-in codes, when you ask for one.
- News about new games from the maker of PerfectCut, only if you tick the box. A few times a year at most. Untick it in your account any time, or reply to any of those emails and ask.
Who can see what
- Friends you've shared a cut with and people in your competitions see your initials, your cut and your score for those days.
- Everyone else only ever sees counts ("you're in the top 12% worldwide").
- Nobody but us sees your email.
Where it lives
On Cloudflare, which runs the game and its storage. Sign-in emails are sent through Resend. Neither may use your data for anything else. We don't sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
Deleting it
In the game: Competitions (the podium, top right) → Account → Delete account. We delete your email straight away, along with any sign-in codes sent to it. Your cuts stay in competitions you were part of, under your initials only, so other players' tables still add up. To have those removed too, email us.
Children
